Welcome to our blog page! We intend to keep you informed about everything art on this page, ranging from the latest news to art valuation and its employment market. This page is meant to be maintained not only by our contributing artists, but the general public as well. Let us know what you want to learn about the arts and we will keep you informed on it. As we learn together, we grow together.
For starters, here's our story:
StudioYu was born out of the idea that building a more collaborative society, giving back, should be at the forefront of any organizational goal. By no means do our day jobs allow us to be philanthropists in the traditional sense, but every little bit helps. So, we wanted to -within our means- experiment with an extreme form of NPO that can 1) provide an alternative channel for the arts to be valued in spite of all the budget cuts to art programs, and 2) offer another platform for underrepresented artists to showcase their work while they are alive.
This idea is "extreme" not only because StudioYu.org is aspiring to be "the little non-profit that could," but on top of that, we are funded not through endowments, nor angel investors, nor government support, but by ordinary people who share our enthusiasm to connect people in a more meaningful way and value the concept of giving back. Furthermore, we do not engage in the sale of original artwork - so cut out the intermediary - and people can go straight to the living source just by checking the back of our cards for our artist's preferred contact information.
In many ways, we are becoming "the people's gallery." Therefore, StudioYu hopes to survive through the generosity of ordinary people who make the conscious decision to contribute to the arts when they are in need of cards for whatever occasion, even tax season. Granted there's still a lot of room for growth and stationary may appear to be a dying industry, but within a month after our soft launch we did manage to break even. So, perhaps people are placing more value on the organically grown by donating to our tiny startup NPO, and they can expect a "thank you" gift that doubles as both shareable and collectible items for their generosity.
So, please help us connect people in a genuine, hand-written, manner, while allowing those who may not want to invest in the original artwork to acquire a printed version for their wall. Thanks for reading!
